The Phil Naessens Saga

April 22, 2010 7 comments

Dear Readers,  on this blog I have addressed Phil Naessens and the things he has done and said over the last year or so.  My purposes for addressing those issues are now moot, not because of anything Naessens has done to reconcile those issues, since he certainly has not.  As a Christian it is my responsibility to seek the welfare and good of fellow Christians, and as patterned by Christ Himself, to bear offenses for the sake of the community and for the integrity of Christ (Mt 27:12-14, 1 Cor 6:7, 1 Peter 3:15-18).  In that regard, I am unpublishing the articles I wrote about Naessens.  Naessens has published over 10 podcasts with direct references to me.  I feel it is my obligation to remove the “stumbling block” set before Naessens (1 Cor 8:10-12, Rom 14:20-21).  For some reason Naessens is stumbling over me.  I want to remove myself as that obstacle and allow Naessens to walk on a clear path.

I wish Naessens well and hope the Lord will help guide him and watch over him in his daily life.  God bless and keep.

When The Compromisers Come: Contra Mundum

March 8, 2010 3 comments

AthanasiusThe Church has been faced with various heresies since the start; be it the Judaizers who were said to be “believers” (Acts 15:5) but advocated Christians must hold to overall Judaism, or whether it be the Gnostics, or the Arians, or the worse heresy; hyperpreterism.  The Church as a whole has always stepped up to the challenge…eventually.  But often leading up to the time when the Church actually deals with the heresy there comes compromisers; people claiming to be Christians who really want to simply placate the heresy and accept it as much as possible.  This is most pointed in the Arian heresy.

Attack Of The Compromisers

December 2, 2009 5 comments

Within the past couple months, alarming new developments have occurred among those opposed to the doctrines of Hyper-Preterism.  The compromising faction, led by a renowned seminary professor, is reportedly trying to synthesize Hyper-Preterism and orthodoxy into a new system of eschatology.  To this end, numerous concessions have been made, even to the extent that certain Hyper-Preterists have been allowed a place at the orthodox table.  The compromisers are now loading the conservative H.P.’s with flattery that smells like cheap perfume.  While the chief string-puller maintains an official position of orthodoxy, the step-n-fetch-its take all the heat.  The tactics of the compromising faction are sure to backfire, however.   Hyper-Preterists are not looking for ‘kudos’ and ‘props’ but for wholesale validation of their heresy.  They will not rest content until they are acknowledged as “brothers in Christ.”  Apprently, the string-pullers and tacticians don’t yet realize this.

The worse thing about this debacle, is that some of the foremost compromisers are assaulting those who choose to stand their ground.  Phil Naessens, a man who is somtimes thought to have bedded the H.P. cause, recently issued two scathing ‘exposures’ of apologist Roderick Edwards, a man whose knowledge of the H.P. movement and tactics is unequalled by any.  Naessens has sunk so low that he resorts to name-calling, while at the same time being ‘nice’ to Hyper-Preterists who started this whole controversy to begin with.  It is reported that Naessens was warned months ago, about flirting too much with Hyper-Preterists.  Folks, does not this seem much like alchol, drug use, or pornography?  A little flirtation often leads to much abuse.  And that seems to be what is happening with the compromising faction of anti- Hyper-Preterism!
